Flexible Sigmoidoscopy

Flexible Sigmoidoscopy

The flexible sigmoidoscopy is not as extensive as a colonoscopy. It is a procedure used to examine the rectum, anal canal, and distal half of the colon. Enlarged hemorrhoids and diseases of this part of the colon can be diagnosed and biopsied, if applicable. Typically, this test takes a brief amount of time and you are sedated.
