Pilonidal Cystectomy

A pilonidal cyst contains hair and skin debris. During a pilonidal cystectomy, the surgeon makes an incision over the cyst, removes the sac enclosing the cyst and cleans the wound. Skin is then shifted and attached to the deepest part of the incision to prevent reoccurrence. This is done under local anesthesia.
